A LETTER TO GOD (KIDS STORY)

There was a girl named Benita, she lived in Ebutte Metta in yaba Lagos State with her sister Betty, her brother Ben and their parents Mr and Mrs Rowland. Benita was very close to her sister and brother and people often called them the three musketeers. They were all very happy living in their house and going to school, until one day just before Christmas, heavy rains came pouring and their home got flooded. The flood destroyed everything. Benita and her siblings lost their school books and their beautiful clothes. Her parents Mr and Mrs Rowland, were sad because they had lost their beloved home. their best friend Mr Kalu, was kind enough to give them a small place to stay in his home.it was a small house and they were not very comfortable.

They were only able to save a few of their belongings. Benita was so sad, so one day she decided to write a letter to God and she addressed it TO GOD IN HEAVEN. She kept the letter in a small post box in front of the house. In the letter,  she told God everything that happened and told God her wish for her family to have a new place to live and new clothes for herself and her siblings. Every day as they all slept in that small room with no space to swing their arms, she hoped God got her letter.
Christmas was approaching and she wondered if her wishes would ever come true. The week before Christmas, everyone seemed busy shopping but not the Rowlands, and that made her really sad. she would say to herself  God  I hope u got my letter? Benita's father Mr Rowland worked with a  company as a clerk.

As he was preparing to close from work one Thursday evening,   he sighed when he remembered the small room his best friend kindly offered them, he was grateful and no one at work knew what had happened to them.  he needed to quickly take some files to the managing directors secretary. He went upstairs with the files and observed the secretary was not on seat, and as he was about to place the files on her table, the managing director Mr Wole came out of his office and Mr Rowland quickly greeted him.

The MD  said ah Rowland how are u? He answered fine thank you, sir. The MD asked him to bring the files to his office.  while signing the documents, the MD asked  Rowland how long have u worked in this company? Rowland answered 10years sir. The MD said and you have served this company diligently and faithfully. Rowland answered thank u, Sir. The MD said I should give u a Christmas gift you know... Rowland smiled and said thank u, sir. The MD  said I have this house I bought a long time ago, I really don't need it, and I have been wondering what to do with it. He checked his drawer and found a bunch of keys and said I think these are the keys, he called his driver and said take Rowland to the house I bought in that government housing estate in Surulere.

Rowland stood still, he could not move and he didn't hear the driver saying let's go. He kept staring at the MD and the MD said my driver will take you to the house. They finally got to the estate and Rowland could not believe his eyes, the estate was well laid out, neat and beautiful, and as they parked near the MD's house he felt his heart will burst for joy.  when the driver opened the front door of the house He observed it was a storey building, it had its own compound and gate, He said to himself, if this is a dream I don't want to wake up. He looked at the sitting room, dining and he started climbing the staircase like he was in a trance, he saw all the bedrooms and was so happy.

He went back to say thank you to the MD and to top it all, the MD gave Mr Rowland his old furniture and gave him a  cheque of 200,000 naira and this was a few days to Xmas. Mr Rowland and his family were overjoyed, he bought Benita and her siblings new clothes and started a new business. Benita thought to herself so God read my letter hmm.
He indeed answers prayers and she settled into sleep smiling.
